The PS3 has a Hard Drive no need for memory cards, you need a PS3 adapter to get your data from your memory card to the PS3

You do not need a memory card for the Playstation 3. It comes with a built in hard drive that comes in about 3 different sizes….Prices ranging from $399-$499 for the 80GB (gigabyte) model. If you will be playing playstation 2 games on it, and have previous saves on playstation 2 memory cards, they sell an adapter that connects through the Playstation 3′s USB port to transfer them onto the hard drive. If you play PS2 games on the ps3, it will automatically create a “virtual memory card” on the hard drive to use with playstation 2 games. If you ever need to transfer anything from your Playstation 3 to a computer or anything of the like, you can use a Memory stick Pro Duo or a USB Flash Drive (thumb drive) and store it on it.

They have a built in memory, if you want PS2 saved games they made an adapter for it.
