For example, the NBA Live series has classic teams by the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. But Michael Jordan isn’t on any of those teams. Why don’t they put MJ in video games? It would make it so much more fun.

He had marketing rights to his name. In order for the game creators to put him in the game they would have to pay him for the rights. Early in his career he asked for way too much money and the creators weren’t willing to pay it. Their workaround was to put in someone named “Player” or something like that. When he finally came back for the Wizards he either thought better of it and let the games use his name, or he really did just come back for the money and took the game creator’s money in exchange for use of the name.
because he owns the rights to his image and no one wants to pay what he’s asking to buy them for a video game – as soon as MJ started to market himself the NBA started putting clauses in contracts saying they have rights to a players image – so they can license players images to video game developers.
Because Jordan negotiated a deal a long time ago that he has exclusive rights to market his name. No one can use his likeness without his permission. Bad for video games, but great for MJ.
Because he is to good, but nba live 2003 and nba 2k3 has him in it,nba live 2003 has him in the 90′s all stars and the wizards, nba 2k3 has him in the 80′s allstars, the 90′s allstars and the wizards.
I don’t know, but I thought I would say, I always wondered the same exact thing.
because mj considers himself a god if he missed a shot on the game he’d think that it was fake he’d make that shot
