You can’t get high quality video recording Xbox game play with a VCR. VCR quality recording will look worse than what you are seeing on screen as you play. You will get better quality by recording using a DVD recorder, but still not outstanding quality.
The best quality would be to use an HD capture card in a PC. Setting up a computer to do this is expensive, but the results look amazing. You can see a list of required parts here:http://www.jakeludington.com/hddvd/20061…
