Specifically, on the PS2 they’re talking about a “family-friendly” playcalling and gameplay. Is this an option or is it the only way you can play? I’d like to buy the game but would like to play essentially the same product as in the past. Thanks for any help!

It is just an option you can play the way it has always been played family play is just a way to dumb it down so everyone of any skill level can compete if you want to. I gotta tell you that right now the ps2 version is the best one out there it may not look as pretty as the ps3 or xbox 360 but its game play is far better on the ps2 too many bugs on the next gen consoles.
