I’m comparing the violence in media in Japan with the violent media in America and I was just wondering if anyone had any sources of how long a Japanese child plays video games. I tried google searching it but no luck, thx.

Most children in Japan go to school 6 days a week, for about 10 hours a day starting when they are 5 or 6. They also have a lot of homework once they get home. Most Japaneses girls use there day off to express there personal fashion. Because they spend all there time in school uniforms they like to dress up in other costumes. It is not uncommon to see teen agers dressed in maid, nurses, or futuristic like outfits. They do have a game square. A lot of teenagers meet there friends there and play interactive games like Dance Dance Revolution. (You may have seen it featured on TV shows like Simpson, and King of the Hill. Where Bart/Bobby will play and when they start to do really well there score is projected on to a huge TV high above the square) Games like Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong and more are normally for younger kids. One the reason why Nintendo came out with the Wii was to try and get there games to be main stream among the teenagers by adding the interactive element.
