How Many People In The United States Play Video Games?

by GamePlay on December 30, 2009

How many people in the United States play video games? People who play games on the newer systems like PS3 or Xbox 360 and people who play on a regular basis. Basically how many true “gamers” are out there?
Thanks for your answers

I love America. But “America” is fat. I love the games… but too many people make them their lives… and don’t do anything… I am an xbox addict but am still social, go outside, exercise, leave the house etc… lol… I know just on xbox live alone, there are about 1 million players, sometimes only 400,000 at a time..but that is just online….. so I would guess, just in America… true gamers… there are about 5.5-6 million TRUE gamers.

oh boy…”true gamers” isn’t a good way to describe people who own certain consoles. There are “real” games on systems like the Wii, DS, and PSP. Some would argue that the only true gamers are those who play PC games. In general I would say you should just check the official Sony or Mircrosoft websites for how many consoles they have sold, or just look for an online pole. I really don’t like questions like these, that
a) seem to be system biased and
b) could be answered by the mighty google
To give you an answer though, I would say it’s in the millions.
