I just got an Xbox 360 Elite today and I also got a wireless router. I keep trying to get my Xbox connected to the router but I don’t know how. It gets past the Connection thing and then when it gets to the IP Adress, it says disconnected… Whats up with that?

…yeah it does. You need to plug it in with an ethernet cord (the jacks on the xbox just above the AV cable) or get the wireless adapter. The Elite does not have a wireless adapter built in.
First you should check to see if there is a firmware update available for your router that improves compatibility with XBOX LIVE! Also see if there is a chance that someone enabled the mac filter address. (even check to see if the router is recognizing the the 360 being connected)…
