I have the 5 meg internet speed (cable internet). It is almost twice as fast as my best friend. When I play a game, it lags so bad I can hardly even play, yet when we play at his house, its totally fine. WTF?? Please help me

its probably not you but the people your playing with because if a host has a bad connection then it affects everyone so to solve this problem you should host instead
well you may have 5 megs but thats download speed you upload speed is probablly slower then his cable often has a crappy upload speed where dsl is usually better for gaming due to a better upload speed however lag can be caused by using wireless nic cards try using a cable to your internet connection insted of wireless also check your firewall settings you may need to open some ports up to allow the game server to connect properly to ur game system
When it comes to online gaming, your upload speed is just as important as download speed. Cable internet lags on upload speed vs. DSL. So the information you are sending to other people is slower then what you are downloading from the other people.
