I’m getting between 35-65 FPS, so the game play is smooth. But I’ve noticed it tends to occasionally skip, like a scratched audio CD would. Is it just me, or has any one else experienced this.

It’s not just you. Some people have experienced horrible “skipping” or “stuttering” during gameplay even when video settings are turned down. This is usually what happens when you port a console game to PC (Halo 2 for Windows has similar issues with performance). I have GOW and experienced the same thing. There have been lots of other technical issues with GOW and if you visit the General Chat forum for GOW lots of people are having technical problems with the game. It seems like Epic shipped a broken game just to meet a release date. Visit the forums and you’ll see what I am talking about.
