What I do is i usually unplug my computers modem and hook it up to my xbox when I want to play, but there are better ways.
The Xbox 360 Wireless adapter is RIDICULOUSLY priced, at about $100, where as a computer network will get you an adapter and a router for much cheaper.
An Xbox 360 for online gaming on live is best with a hard connection into the modem, since wireless is slower and can cause lag.
If your son also does online gaming on the computer (Counter-strike, Call of Duty, (etc.) then you have to decide which is played more.
If you have the budget, and if your son games frequently on both, i recommend getting a wireless N router and adapter for your computer as this is very fast and is very good for gaming.
My Recommendation: Move modem to Xbox 360, get wireless for computer
hope this helps

Get a wireless router and a wireless card for the computer. Place the wireless router near the xbox and use the CAT-5 cables to hook up xbox to router, while using wireless for computer. Reason: computer wireless is about $65 cheaper than Microsoft’s proprietary wireless device for the xbox. If your son is just playing games online, and your just cruising the internet, trust me, this is the best possible solution! Games need alot of bandwidth, and this won’t slow down your internet. (that is, if you have hi-speed!)
Well if the modem is upstairs then your ognna have to get a wireless router with a wireless xbox 360 anteni. They aren’t cheap either. It would be cheaper to bring the modem downstairs next to the xbox and connect the xbox with an ethernet to the router that you will have to get either way…
then put a wireless network card in your computer. the wireless NIC (Network Interface Card) for computers are MUCH cheaper than the xbox360 one. I dont know why microsoft is being so greedy on this one but they are so accept it or don’t buy it and go the cheaper route which I just dol you how to do
hope this helps sorry if its confusing.

the best option is also the most expensive. buy a wireless router and the xbox360 wireless adpater and connect that way. that is what most people do. otherwise, if there is a laptop near the xbox, you can plug it into that and share the internet connection.
J o r d a n B .
You have 3 options. 1. Move the xbox upstairs. 2. dont play live. or 3. buy a wireless adapter tihingy. doesn’t need a computer u just plug it in. but it cost like $100 new at best buy. so its your choice
