I bought one (360 Arcade) for my boys yesterday and I see you can purchase a card for around £25-30 but I have seen people talking about starter packs which sound like cards that come with certain games. I may be wrong but if anyone has some experience in Xbox can you please point me in the right direction.

Some games comes with a 48 hour time card.
Starter packs include hard drive, headset, and 3 month of XBL. I don’t know if you can get these anymore since they were release when MS released the 60 gb hard drive. It might have been a promotion thing to get people to buy the hard drive to get ready for NXE.
I don’t know if they have it in the UK, but in the US, you can get 13 months of XBL for the price of 12 months.
If your just after membership get 12 months as it is £20 off is you buy it every 3 months. As for starter packs most come with things like spare controllers, membership, headsets and are only basic things.
It is proberly cheaper to get 12 months and then games later on as normally games in starter packs are bad ones

I opened an account with HSBC through their website, and got 2 friends to do the same, and I got my Xbox 360 Live Subscription the day after I ordered it.
Apparently how it works is that companies pay http://www.free-xbox360.co.uk/Free-Xbox-…
(companies include HSBC, LoveFilm, Sky, BT, The AA, Asda etc) to get you to try their products, as they’ve taken a bashing with everyone being skint. Then they pass on that money to you (minus a profit for them of course) in the form of rewards like phones etc.
They conform to the UK data protection act of 1998 too, so it’s not spam central like most reward sites.
Just thought you might want to check it out before you decide to spend your money on it.
