I want to buy my boyfriend an xbox for his birthday in October. I’m looking to get an elite from Best Buy with the replacement plan incase it gets RROD. I want to make sure he has everything he will need for it for games, movies, netflicks, etc. The works. What else will he need? I’m planning on a second controller and a remote, but I know he’ll need more than that.

Well good thing his bday is in october because the best xbox(elite) will drop to $299 on aug 30th so kudos. As for accessories, definately a play and charge kit($15), if his modem(cable or dsl) won’t be near his xbox, you should buy a router(I reccomend Linksys N or N+) and a wireless adapter for the xbox, those 2 together will run you no more than $200. A wireless headset should be lik $25 if he wants it. Other accessories aren’t important. I belive the elite package comes with free year of xbox live if not it cost $50
Definitely get him either the Play and Charge kit or the Quick Charge station. The controllers eat up regular batteries like crazy. Also, you may want to get him a Gold subscription card. It alows him to play multiplayer games on Xbox Live. They come in increments of 1 month ($8), 3 months ($20), or a year for $50. You can find them in Best Buy in the gaming accessories area. A Microsoft Points card would also be nice. Points will allow him to buy extra game content from Xbox Live. They always come in handy and can be found in the acessories area too.
Xbox 360 Elite comes with a few cheesy games, a headset, and a controller, all the cords required, etc
The only extras you would really need:
Spare Controller (Rechargeable if possible, Double A batteries go down very fast)
Games of his choice optional
Things like Netflicks are purchased on the Xbox Live marketplace, he could do that himself really.
play and charge kit, xbox live if he wants it, wireless adapter if needed.
There isnt much else because the elite already comes with 120gb hard drive, HDMI cable, component,HD audio, headset, ethernet cable.
but id definutly recommend the play and charge kit, it saves a lot of moneyon batteries
if he plans on going wireless . he will need a wireless adapter and a wireless set of controllers with a backup battery pack [ no cords to trip over ] & probably some aspirin for the headache he will get trying to get it to connect.
