Which Hardware Would You Recommend For A Smoother Gameplay?

by GamePlay on July 22, 2009

I’m saving up money for GTA IV and The Sims 3, but wondering if it will work well with my PC. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 5500 vid card 256 MB, 3GHz processor, Pentium 4, and 1GB RAM.

Your video card will probably slow you down. The 5500 came out in 2003 as an entry-level GPU.
If you can upgrade to a GeForce 6 or 7 series you’ll get much better results. If you’ve got PCI-E instead of AGP then you can go even higher like a 8 or 9 series, but they’re pricey. The 200 series is their latest but they’re the most expensive. I don’t know if a P4 can handle that kind of hardware.
Scratch that. You need at least a Geforce 7900 and a dual-core processor to run it. It might run long enough to tell you it can’t run.

gta iv requirements for gameplay are as follows:
Pentium IV 3.0ghz or higher(core2duo, dual core or equivalent)
2 gb ram
512mb 128bit videocard
20gb harddisk.
