Why Doesn’t Anyone Realize That Excessive Use Of Computers And Video Games Contributes To Myopia?

by GamePlay on September 11, 2009

As a child, I played video games for hours, only 12 inches away from the TV screen. I would also watch television up close and read in the dark. Today, I have to wear contact lenses. Myopia has been sharply rising in Japan. Is it coincidence? I think not!

I didn’t know that it did but I think you make a good point. It is certainly something that should be considered for those sitting behind the comp hour after hour.

Hmmm, does it make mine worse? I have had this problem since I was 5, and personal computers and home video games were not in yet. The reading in the dark is true, my mom used to have to tell me all the time to turn on a light when I would start a good book during the day, and still be reading in the same place when it got dark, lol.
