Back then, when the first video games were made, they were very interesting, but poor in quality. The pixels were easily seen by the human eye. How come they weren’t able to make video games in 3D and in great quality? They got cool 3D computer graphics somewhere in the 1980s so why didn’t they make good video games back then?
Why Were Video Games Back Then Poor In Quality?

3D graphics and 3D animation are two completely different things. Simply put, the programming languages back then were not robust enough to handle the kind of coding required, the processors were not fast enough to handle it, the graphics were not advanced enough, and more.
Not to mention, the cost for a modern day 3D game of today back in the 80′s would have cost more than any person or people could afford.
Well, when they first started making video games, programing was Way simpler. And making animations that they do now, would require advance softwares, which they didn’t have them. It’s kinda like saying, why did they not make movies like they are now, then? Compare, Superman Returns, Hancock, Spiderman 1-2-3. to The classic Supermans and such. It’s simply advancements in technology.
1) very high costs
2) poor affordability of potential customers
3) videogames were an emerging market, so huge investment wasn’t as necessary as today
4) games back then were focused on gameplay/story, while nowadays all games have similar gameplays (they are even built on the same engines), mostly poor storylines and focus mainly on graphics.
It would cost thousands of dollars to make them, and we’d buy it for hundreds of thousands
and to be honest they weren’t that great when they did 3-d back then
I think it’s called new technology… not sure though.
