In all honesty the only good to come out of the Playstation 3 was the fact that it plays Blue Rays. I mean the Xbox 360 has better games, alot more games, and the online play.
But with all the movie companies going with Blue Ray instead of HD dvd’s, when sony decides to lower the price of the playstation 3, will that kill off the HD dvd’s? Or are HD dvd’s already dead?

wow format war and console sales are two different things. Blue ray will most likely win because it has more memory and better companies backing it with movies.
HD DVD will be like the betamax LOL
xbox 360 doesnt need the HD DVD to work
the ps3 does and if somethings comes up lke a new format
then the ps3′s gone
but for sure bluray will win…….
no they have to lower the price of the movies ^^
probably
Sony have pumped alot of money into Blu-Ray because theyve really got to bank on it now after the PS3 diaster (yes it was a disaster, they lose somewhee abouts of £300 per console sold) where as Phillips (& Microsoft) dont need to pump HD-DVD so much because theyre not relying on it. So yes, over time Blu-Ray will consume the market but it will be 5 years or so before DVD, is gone. So no ru$h!!
no one will buy the ps3 for just blu ray, when they come out with blu ray players it will be like from vhs to dvd, slowly….
Sony is so much bigger than Phillips, I really think that BluRay is already taking over. The Xbox has been out longer, thats the only reason it has more games, and online play for PS3 is free. No reason to buy an HD dvd player and a seperate system when you can get an all in one.
Who cares about HD-DVD and Blue Ray its just another way the companies can make more money off the same thing a DVD player does. Now they can sell those HD-DVD Blue ray crap for a higher price.
Just think about the commerce of it all. How long did it take VHS tapes to fall out of “fashion” exactly? As technology develops, things outdated will naturally fall out. Its just how fast and conventional the thing is. I mean, HD DVD’s are just about mainstream now. Maybe Blu-Ray will overtake it or maybe it won’t. In my opinion it will but it’ll take time for HD DVD’s to be “dead”.
