i was wondering if i bought a nintendo wii console in america but i bring it back to aus (were i live) to play, would the games i buy from aus work on the US version of the wii.

No, the games are and the Wii itself are Region encoded. I would not suggest buying it online and having it shipped unless you wish to buy all your games from America.
